My name is Tim Sherman. I currently reside in northern Kentucky and have since 2000. ![]() As a north Louisiana native, I have always enjoyed fishing and hunting, but my love of aviation was present at an early age. Like many fortunate children, I was inspired by my dad.... I loved the study of WWII history, especially that period of industrial and aviation growth of the 1940's. When alive, my dad did not talk much about his experiences in the Pacific but after years of questioning and research, my passion for the men, women, aircraft, and the nation's industrial might, fascinated me. Later in my life, I began to put on paper what interested me the most.... |

America's Determination |
|
My pen and ink prints began as a tribute to my dad who faithfully served in the Pacific theater during WWII. Dad enjoyed having these renderings displayed and now I am wanting others to enjoy either their personal memories of the era or maybe one's passion for the aircraft type. This is my way of saying thanks to the young men and women of the "greatest generation" that served our United States all across the world.

This recreated artwork is a part time venture and my way to share my rendered memories of the results of America's determination... the aircraft of WWII. Now is the time for me to share these renderings and to continue a passion of mine. I hope that in the near future my inventory will increase to cover most of the popular aircraft of America's great past. |

My Background As a kid, if I couldn't participate in whatever interested me at the time, I had to draw it. I spent many hours drawing wildlife. If I could not be on the lake or in the woods, I was drawing animals or fish. It wasn't until high school that I started drawing aircraft. I was a member of the Navy Junior ROTC program that allowed me to travel to many Naval Air Stations in the south. The commander of our program was a retired Naval Aviator that flew during WWII and Korea. His mentorship meant much to me. His leadership skills inspired me further to continue my goal to become a Naval Aviator. In order to continue my pursuits, I knew I had to stay in school. College offered not just an aviation course but a Bachelor Degree of Science. During college, the Aviation program also presented its share of mentors, one being a Marine fighter pilot and one being Air Force. Thanks to these individuals we are not just able to live a better life generally but they also chose to educate and mold others. What a calling! After college, I was selected as an officer candidate in the United States Marine Corps and went to flight school to fly helicopters. I flew the CH-53D Sea Stallion on the east coast for my stint in the Corps.
After military service, I was fortunate enough to fly for the U.S. Customs Service. There I flew helicopters, small recip. aircraft, and small jets. During these few years, I was able to spend time drawing while on long detachments away from home. Currently, I fly airliners for the United Parcel Service (UPS) based in Louisville, Kentucky and have since December 2000. My interest now is to continue drawing what inspires me, the aircraft of WWII and more. I would also like to meet more WWII vets that would share their stories of this time in history and of their gallant efforts. May they not be forgotten....
Description of Art My enjoyment comes from doing pen and ink artwork of aircraft. My art is from a technique called pointillism or "stipple". Each rendering is a signed and numbered print. Please continue to Artwork and Such |
